GRAMMAR REVIEW: WORD ORDER

The order of the subject and
verb in English sentence can be changed for various reasons. In a
statement, the subject is followed by the verb. In a question, an auxiliary
verb or the verb be comes before
the subject.
An auxiliary verb is used in a
question except when the main verb is be.
An auxiliary verb can be understood or used in a statement, for emphasis
and for negatives:
Word order can also be changed
to avoid repetition:

when a statement begins with a prepositional phrase of location:

conditional if has been omitted:
The negative words and phrases
below are followed by a change in word order when they begin a sentence or
an independent clause:

Underline and label the subject, auxiliary verb, and verb that have
been inverted in each sentence. Not all sentences contain an auxiliary
