EXERCISE 33. Reported vs. quoted speech. Directions: Change the reported speech to quoted speech. Begin a new paragraph each time the speaker changes. Pay special attention to pronouns, verb forms, and word order. Example: This morning my mother asked me if I had gotten enough sleep last night. I told her that I was fine. I explained that I didn't need a lot of sleep. She told me that I needed to take better care of myself. Written: This morning my mother said, “Did you get enough sleep last night?” “I’m fine,” I replied. “I don’t need a lot of sleep.” She said, “You need to take better care of yourself.”
